Sergey Sbss

Sergey Sbss, a multidisciplinary artist-designer and illustrator, lives and works in Moscow. He is one of the well-known and progressive Russian artists, and he began his career in early 2007.
Dazzle camouflage or dazzle painting was his early recognizable style: geometric abstraction patterns consisted of complex patterns of geometric shapes in contrasting colors, interrupting and intersecting each other. Built on angles of inclination of 45 degrees and folded into a harmonious form with bright colors.
The main thing in Sergey's works is an experiment with forms, colors, and images.
A black circle inscribed in a square is one of the main elements in his work. His art today is restrained in large fragments, reflecting the creative pause and compensation of the previous style, diluted by the expression of different visual cultures.
Sergey's visual result is based on compositions from the common geometric shapes and typography inscribed in squares arranged together into a single object with inserts of bright visual images of characters, strong human emotions, and experiences.
Sergey is inspired by street culture, electronic music, graphic design aesthetics, and classical graphics. The limitless space and opportunities in digital art for creative experimentation and the realization of ideas is what most encouraged him about new media art tools.
“I want to evoke emotions in the viewer through my works so that everyone can see and feel their own, and this is the most important thing. The awareness of the past, and the vision of the present and the future, offer the viewer space for reflection and the thinking of images.”
Sergey works with many formats, mediums, and surfaces, illustrations, custom sneakers, and collectible figures, prints on clothes, 3D sculptures, walls, canvases, etc.
His works were represented at the Moscow Biennale, at various local exhibitions, and in different art and design magazines. Sergey was a member of the annual interactive exhibition project Faces & Laces (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), which actively collaborated with prominent independent international artists. Alongside his artistic way Sergey is collaborating with some of the most known commercial brands: Adidas, Nike, Red Bull, and more.
